UNESCO provides global and regional leadership in education, strengthens education systems worldwide, and responds to contemporary global challenges. UNESCO has been entrusted to lead the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/sdg4education2030\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Global Education 2030 Agenda<\/a>. For more information about the education programme see\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.unesco.org\/themes\/education-21st-century\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Estonia the focus is mostly on the following UNESCO\u00b4s education themes and programmes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SDG 4<\/a>\u00a0and target 4.7;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\/sustainable-development\/education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Education for Sustainable Development<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\/global-citizenship-peace-education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Global Citizenship Education<\/a>;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\/youth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth<\/a>\u00a0empowerment;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/unesco.ee\/en\/unesco-associated-schools\/\">UNESCO Associated Schools<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/unesco.ee\/en\/baltic-sea-project-bsp\/\">Baltic Sea Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unesco.ee\/public\/10_years_of_ESD_in_Estonia_Henno.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;Ten years of Education for Sustainable Development in Estonia&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0by Ms. Imbi Henno, the\u00a0Chief Expert of Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia, provides a good overview about the initiatives and programs implemented in Estonia during the\u00a0UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development\u00a0(2005-2014).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Education\u00a0constitutes the largest proportion of UNESCO\u2019s activities.
