Organization

UNESCO is a specialised agency of the UN that works to foster peace and security in the world by promoting international collaboration through education, culture, science, ICT and media. The subjects of UNESCO are often cross-sectoral. Estonia joined UNESCO on 14 October, 1991.

Estonian National Commission for UNESCO serves as a coordinative unit between UNESCO and Estonian organisations, institutions as well as private persons related to the work of UNESCO. It is our task to create possibilities for them to be engaged in the work of UNESCO and to ensure the involvement of Estonia in global collaboration for establishing common values.
